Lisa + Alex’s Engagement Session

I’ve known Lisa for many many years. Our Parents are best friends. She was also one of the few people I let babysit my first born! She is a sweet as they come and I couldn’t be more happy for her and Alex. They’ve been dating for over 5 years and recently graduated from University of La Verne. Lisa and Alex met through Greek Life.  Alex was the President of Phi Delta Theta and Lisa was a Sigma Kappa.  Lisa has a degree in Liberal Studies and is a Master of Science in Higher Education. Alex has a degree in Political Science and his Law degree.  So it’s safe to say we all knew this engagement was inevitable but they were focused on their education first.  They both wildly succeeded with that and are now moving forward to plan this joyous occasion in October! It’s almost like it was ripped right out of every Parent’s dream!
I was fortunate enough to get an extra day during out Easter visit with my family down in the LA area (Upland, CA) to shoot Lisa and Alex’s engagement session. Thanks to my amazing friend and fellow photographer, Meghan Wiesman, we headed up to an amazing field up in the hills. Meghan also happened to be doing a shoot there that same evening. She had brought along this gorgeous chase lounge chair that was dark red! LOVED IT! but she was starting her session off somewhere else which gave me a few minutes to use it!! SCOOOORREE!
I’m sure you’ve seen the sneak peeks of this session on my Facebook page last week but I added a few extra shots to this post!  If you aren’t a “fan” of my Facebook page, please please please go on and “like” the page!  I always post the first glimpse of any shoot there!!

and I wanted to personalize the shoot a little bit so on our way home we stopped by University of LaVerne to get a couple shots.  These are a little different from my “typical” style but I’ve been working on off camera flash techniques and thought I’d test it out!  It isn’t perfected quite yet but I think they turned out pretty good considering!  Maybe my flash expert photog friends can e mail me with some feedback! =)

this was the spot where Alex proposed to Lisa.  The night we were there it had a completely different thing painted on the rock than it did the night Alex proposed.  He had something special painted on there just for the occasion!
